Highlight were the two Cranes that circled the reserve calling, but unfortunately didn't land.

Increased numbers of duck and Whoopers today, and 2 Great Egrets briefly - one being chased off by the other.
After missing last weeks count there is a lot more water about reflecting on the number of wildfowl present.
Highlight was the number of the birds on the lake at first light - hundreds of gulls (mostly Great Black-backs) and Greylag Geese. Unfortunately, not enough time to count them accurately before they fly off before dawn to feed in the surrounding fields.
No highlights to speak of today. May be with water being pumped on to other local reserves as well as KFB the wildfowl have more of a choice.
Highlights were the Goosander on the lake and 14 Corn Bunting over Padney.
