Bird Records from the Cencus may be out of date following limitations to recording in light of the coronavirus pandemic
Neither Graeme nor I were able to do a count last week but I managed a couple of hours from the hide on March 2nd from 16.30. There were 246 Lapwing, some of which were displaying before dusk and at least 4 Redshank displaying. 77 Whooper Swans flew in to roost at 17.15 and at 17.30 a Bittern flew into the reedbed. For the last hour 5 Marsh Harriers (1 male) flew round the reedbed before dropping in to roost. 52 Shoveler were feeding on the lake.
Not a bad couple of hours especially as it was sunny and no wind! Bruce
