FAQ
Q. What time to I need to get there?
A. Find out how to find us. Registration is open from 10:15 am to 10:45 am. Allow enough time to park and collect your runner's wrist band. The Run Briefing will be at 10:55 and the run will start at 11:00.
Q. What will the route be like?
A. Our 5km route is ideal for anyone kickstarting a running or walking journey or for seasoned runners who simply love being outside. It's also a brilliant opportunity to for families or groups of friends to enjoy a fun run together. Soak up the fresh air, the glorious views, and the tranquil atmosphere. You'll wind through some of the most scenic areas of the Reserve, enjoying nature at its spring best.
If endangered species of wading birds decide to nest near the planned run route, we will not be allowed to disturb them. Instead, we will take you on an alternative route through a meadow on the Reserve that is normally closed to the public.
Q. Who is it suitable for?
A. This event is for everyone from fitness walkers to casual joggers and serious runners. Children are very welcome, accompanied 1:1 by a responsible adult if under 12. However, the course can't cope with dogs or buggies.
Q. What's included in the price?
A. Car parking (normally £5/car) and a unique wooden finisher's medal, crafted from a fallen tree on the Reserve. As this is a run, not a race, there will be no chip timing, prizes or results list. It's just for fun!
Q. What facilities are available?
A. We have onsite toilets, an under-cover bag-drop area, and the cosy Kingfisher Café (open 10 am – 4:30 pm) where you can relax with a hot drink and enjoy a slice of home-made cake after the run.
Q. How muddy will it be?
A. That depends on the weather! The terrain varies from wide woodland tracks to grassy trails which often get very slick in the rain. (We are a Wetland Reserve after all!) There is also a short section of concrete road. Please wear trail shoes and expect to get a bit dirty, especially in wet weather!
