Holiday Activities

Our half term and holiday activities are designed to foster an appreciation of nature. Some events will be practical, some will be cross-curricular, some will be seasonal and hopefully encourage the children to become nature detectives, spotting the signs that herald changes in the Reserve over the course of a year.

Compass Trail

What are our owls eating?
Discover what the reserve’s owls are finding to eat by dissecting their pellets. Using identification charts you might find mice, shrews or frogs, identified from their bones. There will need to be at least one adult per family group.

Please book one ticket for each child who will be dissecting a pellet.

Having parked, please follow the signs from the Visitor Centre and walk down to the classroom on the Cam Washes, this will take about 10 minutes. There will be a porta-loo at the classroom, but the only other toilet is at the VC.

If you use the what3words app regrowth.rods.stump will bring you to the main car park on the Reserve.

Wednesday 1st June
10am and 11.30am

Come and spend an hour exploring Home Wood. The children can follow a trail through Home Wood, using compasses to lead them to the answers to a nature and wildlife quiz.

With the use of compasses this is probably better suited to KS2 children, but younger siblings are more than welcome to join in.

The nature trail is an outside event, so please come appropriately dressed.

Please book one ticket for each child who will be taking part. There will need to be at least one adult per family group.

Having parked, meet outside the Visitor Centre. Please be aware the only toilet is at the VC.
