Walking

Paths & Footpaths

Kingfishers Bridge Nature Reserve has always been a 'wildlife first' project. We have created paths for visitors to enjoy the site whilst respecting the wildlife for whom Kingfishers Bridge is home.

A circular route around the Reserve is a 3.6km walk, giving a closer view of the lake. This is a seasonal path and may be closed between March and June to avoid disturbing breeding birds. There are paths through woodland and along the river bank. Permissive paths give access to the hides and viewing points. The 'Fen Rivers Way' runs along the banks of the River Cam to Ely.

Please keep to the marked paths. Here is a downloadable map of the Reserve.

While most of the paths are relatively wide and flat, not many are surfaced and can get muddy. There are no stiles.

Horse riders
Horse riders are very welcome. There is a public bridleway along the Cam river bank. Please note that paths may be gated when the river bank is grazed between April and August.

Electric Fencing
The Reserve's electric fencing runs alongside some of the permissive routes. It is well signed but please take care when visiting.
