Today we began the tough job of making our HD wildlife camera feeds available to everybody. A reliable and fast internet connection has been our main setback but after today that shouldn't be a problem. With the help of Air Broadband we now have a direct microwave link to the West Tower of Ely Cathedral which joins to the main fibre-optic network there. I was fortunate enough to be able to join the engineers in the tower and got some great photos looking back towards Kingfishers Bridge The communications equipment is mounted to existing structural supports so as not to damage the cathedral. the space has been made available where old mobile phone systems used to operate.
This is still only a temporary measure for our upload needs however and will be upgraded to a more powerful system providing broadband services for our neighbors too over the coming months.
