Pumping Water into the Wader Meadow

Due to the dry weather conditions we have had to resort to pumping water into the wader meadows using a petrol-fueled pump. Ordinarily our solar powered pump keeps these water bodies topped up but even the 550 litres per minute petrol pump is struggling to keep sufficient standing water in these ditches. The ground is so dry that it absorbs a lot of the water and evaporation rates are high too due to wind.
